Supplemental Insurance Open Enrollment
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is offering group insurance plans through Unum to supplement what is already being provided by the hospital.
Each UNUM plan is portable, so if you retire, reduce your hours or leave CCHMC, you can take this coverage with you.
Critical Illness, Accident and Short Term Disability Insurance offer guarantee issue during open enrollment for those who have enrolled and waived coverage. Voluntary Life Insurance requires answering medical questions unless you are newly eligible.
You must enroll or waive each of the following benefits.
Short Term Disability Insurance can help you replace a portion of your monthly income in the event of a disability.
Critical Illness Insurance can help protect your finances from the expense of a serious health problem, such as a stroke, heart attack, or cancer.
Accident Insurance is designed to help cover the many expenses associated with injuries and treatments caused by accidents.
Voluntary Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance ensures you have protection for those who depend on your income.
A Bonus Wellness Benefit
Once per year, each covered individual can receive a benefit payout of $75 (Critical Illness) and/or $50 (Accident) for completing one of these tests. These plans do not offset with the employer-paid Critical Illness policy provided for employees enrolled in the HSA Advantage medical plan, so if you have all three benefits (Employer-Paid Critical Illness, Employee-Paid Group Critical Illness, and Group Accident), you can receive $200!
